Inauguration of Swirling Seagulls (Une Ronde de Mouettes) by Carla Lavatelli

Mougins, France – October 10, 2014 – Une Ronde de Mouettes, a work signed by Carla Lavatelli brings all it’s delicacy to the Place des Patriots in Mougins, France.

Fusion by the Da Prato Foundry is realised in a dark, fire-patinated bronze, Une Ronde de Mouettes is an invitation to come together and share. In 1995, Carla Lavatelli had previously been commisioned to create an urban project consisting of a carved stone bench with a fountain and water line set into a rough-hewn travertine for the plaza of La Place du Banc des Amis, currently installed at the foot of the Saint Jacques Maggiore. It is a work that invites conviviality and exchange.

Carla Lavatelli made Une Ronde de Mouettes for Mougins, the french village for which she had a special attachment. This flight of seagulls fits perfectly within the context of the Place des Patriotes and it highlights the scenic panorama overlooking Grasse, known for its perfumes. A symbol of love and ties that unite people, this creation also testifies to the generosity of this artist's extraordinary career. Her international career from Europe to the United States, led her to also realise the life size bronze portrait of Princess Grace of Monaco and her children, and today it’s shown in the most prestigious Palace of Monaco. She dedicated her life to convey her humanistic values with humility.

It is with great pride that the City of Mougins hosts Une Ronde de Mouettes on the emblematic square of the Patriots.
